Here we go:

The Hickmen, from Kelso Washington, have JUST completed their new record and had this to say on Friday July 10th, 2009:

myself and biff dougan had the brilliant idea to work on some new
songs the old fashioned way. we recorded 5 brand new songs on
wednesday and thursday in our classic two piece configuration. this is the first time in almost 9 years that we have done that. for those
long time fans our first cd ’songs from the outdoor smoke machine’
were acoustic guitar and vocals. these new songs are cut from the same cloth. the new disc is called ‘largo july 79′ and it will feature
these hot new cuts along with a few other extra goodies from the
vaults.

the track listing will be as follows:
1. big fat bag of gold
2. f.b.i. on pee
3. rob halford paint huff
4. hypocrite ridge
5. brown paper wig [gary berg]

the extra tracks are as yet to be determined. i am going to search for a classic hickmans practice from way back in the early days. i do know a few outtakes from the ‘hi fi hi way’ sessions called ‘dairy queen’ and ‘roger dean’. a few fresh roast solo cuts. some dougan classics and a few other scraps of rock and roll goods for you.

in the meantime enjoy the two cuts up on the myspace playa right now. let us know what you think. we will be doing the 2 piece thing on july 25th at the chinese gardens lounge as part of a double cd release party with chuck roast releasing his long anticipated cd ‘gay
sabbath’. longview legend and former member of the jimmies and legend of dutch savage will also be making his solo debut. so come out to this show and taste the action.

now that we have got that out of the way i can continue vocal work on ‘catnip japan’……..aka……..ALBUM #7

Phoenix, Az based band, The Hollow Bodies, have decided to call it a day folks ! The bands former upright bassist and vocalist, Ryan, had the following to say on a posting via their myspace site:

Well we’ve had a good run, but unfortunately it’s time for us to hang it up.

It’s been almost a year since our last show, and though we had planned to get back on track, we just haven’t been able do it.

We’d like to thank all of you who have supported us over these past
four years. It’s been a lot fun. I will, most likely, start a new
project, as to What? or When? I can’t really say at the moment.

Cheers,
Ryan

projects via their myspace page:

In totally unrelated news, it was brought to my attention just
today that the guys in Horror Of 59 have called in a day officially as
of July 25th. Here’s what was left as a farewell to the fans:

Hey everyone, Bob here. It’s been a good run, but after 5 years and 2
albums, Horror of ‘59 is crawling off into the graveyard beyond the
woods. Due to completely understandable real life circumstances, our
drummer Brent was unable to keep playing in the band. I suppose we
could have kept on going with a new drummer, but it just didn’t seem
right. We already lost our two founding members, Deke and M. Balmer,
some time ago. So it just feels like it’s time to let the band die.
At least everybody is still friends, so while I’m sad to see it end,
it’s not such a bad way to go out.

I can only speak for myself, but this has been the best experience
playing in a band I’ve had in the over 20 years of making music. It
really made me happy that so many people seemed to genuinely like what we were doing. All of you who came out to see our shows or just wrote us a message saying you liked our music made it worthwhile, and I think in this case I can speak for all members of Horror of ‘59 past and present when I say thank you.

I also want to thank all the bands we’ve played with, the clubs and
promoters who booked us, the people who helped us get our albums out (Mike Albertson, Lacey Petrovich, and Charles Abou-Chebl), the great artists who did logos, fliers, and album covers for us (especially “Big Tony” and Mitch O’Connell), and of course everyone who has beenin this band over the years: “Deke” Taylor, Mike “M. Balmer” Taylor ,Tommy “Horror” Tadsen, Brent “Bastard” Hathaway, Jimbo “Jimmy Dale Killmore” Hissem, Tommy Roulette, Sugar Wildman, and Dennis A. Bell who filled in for Tommy Horror for one show. Extra special thanks to Deke and M. Balmer, because they started the band.

At this time there are no plans for any special “last show”. Sugar
and I plan to fulfill Horror of 59’s Cleveland area comittments for
June and July with a guest drummer and me on guitar. We’ll be playingHorror of ‘59 songs, but it won’t be Horror of ‘59. If you need a name, just call us “Sort of ‘59″.

Stay sick,

Bob “Noxious” Ignizio

Neon Kross, featuring Daniel DeLeon of Rezurex fame and John Of Pins
And Needles, have been hunkering down the last few months in a quaint
LA studio putting down their new wavey goth-a-billy sounds. They have
just recently, thanks to an astute reader, posted two very rough demos
on their official myspace page for consumption by fans and friends
alike. This is a definite sound departure for DeLeon and company
comparative to their current main-line projects and will be sure to
bring in new and old fans alike for the electro sounds. Go check em
out below:
